WORKSHOP: Wood Frame Construction for High Wind Regions - 04/02/2009

WOOD FRAME CONSTRUCTION FOR HIGH WIND REGIONS WORKSHOP

Workshop Overview
The program provides an overview of how wind loads affect a building and how proper design and construction prevents damage to the building. We will cover the use of code referenced design manuals as well as locally approved design documents. The audience will gain an understanding of building code requirements, structural design and framing methods to reduce costs for building in high wind regions including using wall sheathing for combined shear and uplift. The program will include, selection and specifying wood frame products, fastening with nails, screws and glue and complying with the ever changing building codes.

Handouts
Hard copy or electronic versions of the program will be available. We will also hand out design documents that the attendees will keep as a reference.

2 Hours of CEU’s through the National AIA Course numbers: FWC601 & FWC604
